Sarah Alter earned her Masters of Health Sciences for Physician Assistants from Weill Cornell’s Physician Assistant Program.
Since graduating, Sarah has worked in medical oncology with a focus on breast and GYN malignancies. In this capacity she acted as a Survivorship Program coordinator where she helped women navigate the complexities of life after cancer diagnosis, including their struggles with mental health conditions. Sarah became a trusted healthcare professional known for providing exceptional care to patients.
Sarah specifically focuses on women’s mental health, understanding the unique challenges and stressors that women face. She tailors her treatment approach to address the specific needs of each woman, taking into account her individual circumstances and cultural background. As a psychiatric PA, Sarah works closely with Dr. Weiss and other mental health professionals to deliver comprehensive and personalized treatment plans for patients. She conducts thorough assessments and collaborates with patients to develop effective treatment strategies. Through active listening and empathy, Sarah establishes strong therapeutic relationships, empowering patients to play an active role in their own mental well-being. She is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of her patients, providing them with the support and treatment they need to lead fulfilling and balanced lives.
Sarah also practices integrative medicine. At her practice Custom Wellness, she provides a welcoming space for individuals seeking a comprehensive and personalized approach to their healthcare, using a variety of modalities, including mindfulness, nutritional counseling, and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies.

The gold standard of treatment for many psychiatric disorders is a combination of psychotherapy and medication management. We have treated many patients with psychotherapy alone or a combination of psychotherapy and medication management.
We provide medication management for a wide variety of psychiatric conditions including depression, anxiety, OCD and ADHD. We will work closely with you to find the right medication plan for you or your child.
We are passionate about finding ways for parents and children to better their relationship. We offer parenting workshops for individuals and professionals and partner with therapists who specialize in parenting techniques.
We are happy to offer Telehealth services for people residing in New York and New Jersey through the HIPAA compliant platform, Doxy. In person sessions are also possible in our office in Englewood, NJ.
